Centenary celebrations - An exciting year for the association!

In 2021 a small sub committee was formed and took on the challenge of organising centenary events. Led by Dave Cochrane with assistance by Mary Baker, Barb Schultz and Clare Perry and others.

The centenary year started off with a community gala day in March with a host of activities for the community, then a trivia night led by Mary Baker in May - a tremendous success that saw the club house room overflowing and tickets being closed off due to lack of space! A great night bringing together members and friends alike.

A centenary raffle had been organised and it culminated at this night with many winners drawn. A great fund-raising effort with several thousand dollars being directed to infrastructure improvements.

Our annual grade tournament was also a special centenary one with people enjoying doubles, single sex or mixed, and the highlight as always… the singles! Thanks to Paul K, Geoff D, Karen W, Mel N and Mel D in organising.

The party continued with a gala centenary dinner held in October at the Epping Club. Dave Cochrane was the MC and ably assisted by the sub-committee bringing it together for 250 people on the night. The night was time for our current members and older members to reminisce and to celebrate those who have assisted the association in the past, and now.

And we also benefited from being able to share some of the history of our association with our guests from Tennis NSW, Parramatta and Hornsby Council and local MPs that all took time from their busy schedules in coming and supporting us.

And to finish off in our Centenary year, North West Sydney Tennis has won the coveted NSW Hardcourt George McKerihan Shield which is for the association who recorded the highest points for the 2023 season. We are very proud of our junior’s achievement.

We look forward to the next 100!
